Maxpedition Single Sheath review

Maxpedition Single Sheath black review

I was looking for a holster for my Quark QPA flashlight and while browsing the web, I came across Maxpedition Single Sheath. I was using Condor belt with 2 horizontal pouches, but I gave it a try - ordered on in black color - and I could not resist to write a review.

Package came shortly and in a while I held sturdy, nice-looking cordura nylon sheath in black color. Maxpedition advertises this product as a sheath to hold extra flashlight, small cellular phone, multitool, folding knife, or handgun magazine. It's size is 4''-5'' (10-12 cm) max height, 2'' (5 cm) width, internal pouch diameter around 1.5'' (3.8 cm). It's made of 100-Dernier nylon - not sure what are the specifics of this type of material, but it's definitely sturdy and well built. A little bonus is water abrasion - however, I don't expect it to stay dry in heavy rain.

Pouch is enclosed with nylon flap attached by velcro. Pouch is held with elastic retention straps, which can be used as extra storage option - perfectly fits my Fenix E01 flashlight and Light My Fire firesteel. Main compartment fits gas lighter or Zippo, however, there's not much space left for other gear. I think it best suits it's original purpose as magazine holder.

On the back side there's MOLLE compatible attachment, either horizontal, or vertical. Fits my backpack without issues. I noticed that overall width along with horizontal velcro straps could fit my beloved Fallkniven F1 knife's zytel sheath - and surprisingly, hold great! Finally something similar to my previous outdoor knife, ESEE 5, which had great option of attaching extra pouch for survival stuff. Check my pictures - looks great.

I can't say anything bad about this product - maybe I'd like to have bigger main compartment, however, Maxpedition offers alternative options - 4'' or 5'' Flashlight sheath suited for this task. So if you're looking for something to carry bigger flashlight, go for it. If you want to carry minimal size and weight, go for Maxpedition Single Sheath.
